Content is King!!

Most web design companies make these promises: Top Search Engine rankings, high traffic and the fastest page delivery.

There are a number of factors that go into good SEO (search engine optimization) and SEM (search engine marketing) If you really want search engine results, here’s how to make sure your web designers are doing the right things to keep these promises.

  1. Content – Make sure that the information you are distributing to your audience is relevant and up to date! This can be achieved by consistently accessing your Content Management System (CMS) and producing new and exciting information to keep your audience coming back. More importantly, this also keeps search engines coming back to your site seeing you as a value resource for search results of your particular ilk.
  2. Title – Keep the titles of your pages relevant to the content displayed.
  3. External and Internal linking – getting links into your site and going out of your site are important. Links should be completely or at least loosely related to your content.
  4. Image descriptions and link titles - Make sure you supply alternate text descriptions for images and links.
  5. Regular marketing - Promote your website with a blog and/or by using Social Media. Like Facebook, Twitter, Youtube or Flickr.

High traffic is directly related to your marketing campaigns and how well you get the word out to your customers. Traffic comes from advertising and the number one form of advertising is word of mouth. There is no way for a web design company promise this. This is of course, up to you! People are at your site for specific information and they will most likely be interested in something if it is related to them. So make sure you keep the content as much about your audience as possible!

Fast page delivery can be achieved by setting up a fast server with high bandwidth and a website with a lightweight coding structure. However a web design company cannot foresee how much traffic is directed to your site, if your website becomes the next big thing, a high amount of traffic could seriously slow down how fast your page loads! Which could become expensive.

Remember, a website can make or break your business, it is your responsibility to keep that web site up to date. The content is the most important factor in the success of your website. Content is king, and without good and current content the money you invest in that shiny new site won’t amount to much. Robust, relevant content will create a marketable website that will effectively reach your audience.
