August 28, 2009 Apple filed for patents on a new type of keyboard. This keyboard is a multi-touch keyboard with tactile feedback for users.

"The invention is credited to Wayne Carl Westerman of San Francisco, Calif. The described invention would include drive electronics that stimulate the multi-touch sensor and sensing circuits for reading the sensor in a single integrated package." -Apple Insider

This patent suggests that our predictions are correct. The supposed "iSlate" will not be a tablet but a clam shell notebook computer with multiple touch interfaces. One of these interfaces will include a dynamic tactile keyboard.

Thanks for your comment. There are updates to the rumors about the iSlate and some patents have been revealed. These patents suggest the rumored “iSlate” will have tactile feedback for users when in keyboard mode. If thats the case, you could easily reach that 80 wpm. I love my iPhone..but I don't see how touch could replace a keyboard.. I was sooo much faster texting on my old cell phone. Even with practice, and predictive text–And I am a very fast typer. How could I do 80+ wpm with touch technology?
